The E.W. Scripps Co. in Cincinnati is a staid operation that owns daily newspapers in 16 markets, TV stations in nine cities, the HGTV cable network and United Media, syndicator of popular comic strip ‘Peanuts.’





But when Indianapolis shop Young & Laramore was asked to create Scripps’ annual report, it suggested the focus be another of the syndication properties: ‘Dilbert,’ the irreverent comic strip on business life.
