NEW YORK David Fincher of Anonymous Content has won the Director’s Guild of America award for outstanding directorial achievement in commercials.

First-time nominee Fincher was recognized for his work on Portland, Ore.-based Wieden + Kennedy’s “Gamebreakers,” for Nikegridiron.com, depicting real football players playing in a videogame-like setting; Wieden’s “Speed Chain,” for Nike, showing a chain of speed, from a jellyfish, to a horse, to a motorcycle, to a train, all going at top speed; and Mother in London’s “Beauty for Sale,” for Xelibri Phones, which portrayed a futuristic fashion show in which ordinary-looking people were stuffed into costumes that transformed them into supermodels.
