DeVito/Verdi last week broke controversial ads for New York magazine as well as campaigns for Linens ‘n Things and Circuit City.
Copy for one of three bus executions for New York reads, “Possibly the only good thing in New York Rudy hasn’t taken credit for.” New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani requested the ad be pulled, and the magazine is suing to have it put back.
The shop’s “Shirt/ Bullshirt,” a print execution for Daffy’s, and “Schnookie,” a sexy radio spot for client For Eyes Optical, were also pulled this year.
