LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group's Deutsch/LA has elevated partner and media director Colleen Kelly to director of new business, according to the agency. Kyle Acquistapace, senior vice president and group media director, was named svp and media director.
"We are excited to reward their hard work and underscore these critical functions at our agency," said Mike Sheldon, president, in a statement.
Kelly, who reports to Mike Duda, senior vice president and director of business development, said she had been working on the new business team for years, so the move represents the agency's formalization and concentration on that role. "They've asked me to devote my time to it," she said, "and I enjoy the challenge."
Now in her eighth year at Deutsch, Kelly said her philosophy aligns with the agency's legacy: "We've felt the same way since the beginning: We want to go after business on which we can do great creative, make some money, and be working with people we want to work with. Usually, we'll settle for two out of three."
Acquistapace, who reports to Peter Gardiner, partner and chief media officer, is a six-year veteran of Deutsch. He's recently served as an account manager for TGI Fridays, CiCi's Pizza and Pacificare.
Melanie Steinbach, who ran the Mitsubishi Motors North America business at the Marina del Rey, Calif., agency, has stepped into the role of senior vice president and group media director, Kelly said.
Kelly said the shop is not currently engaged in a new business presentation, but added she is preparing to continue a recent tradition, "what has come to be known as the 'Deutsch annual Christmas pitch.' It seems like every year we have something over the holidays."
