MarketStar is beginning to reap the benefits of being a member of Omnicom Group's Diversified Agency Services division.
The sales and field marketing services agency, based in Ogden, Utah, has linked with other DAS companies on two assignments since joining the global network last month. DAS is comprised of 80 independently branded marketing services firms that can link together through a clearinghouse.
One of MarketStar's new clients is Simplexity.com, a Reston,Va.-based company that bundles telephone services for small-to-midsized businesses. Rapp-Collins, another DAS marketing company, called on MarketStar to provide live call center support for Simplexity's customers while it handles customer acquisition services, including direct mail.
Separately, MarketStar tapped Claydon Heeley, a London-based promotions company, another of the shops in the network, for in-store promotions support for longtime MarketStar client Motorola in China.
Aligning with Omnicom and DAS gives MarketStar access to marketing service resources globally that will allow it to grow, according to Craig Bott, svp of strategic corporate development. "We've already seen the value of this partnership with these two assignments," he said. "In the past, these types of relationships were typically driven by the client. This way, there is the value-added factor where we can go to a client with these other resources."
Jim Judge, MarketStar's vp of marketing, added that he sees the company partnering with a "handful" of DAS companies on a regular basis.
The 12-year-old company, founded by Alan Hall, has access to more than 4,000 field representatives nationwide. K
