NEW YORK-Norbert Lindhof has been named chairman and CEO of D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in Germany, effective Aug. 1. Lindhof will be based in D'Arcy's Hamburg office. He most recently was executive director of Scholz & Friends Group, also in Hamburg.

Lindhof, 49, replaces Dr. Andreas Danyliuk, who joined D'Arcy Germany in January 1999 and who centralized the agency's Germany operations by merging the Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Hamburg offices. He is leaving to pursue other interests in Berlin, according to agency executives.

In a statement, D'Arcy Worldwide president and CEO John Farrell, praised Danyliuk, saying that his work for the agency has resulted in "a better operation in Germany."

D'Arcy Worldwide chairman Susan Gianinno said of Lindhof, "His reputation in the industry, his personal integrity, and his impressive new business record will all be tremendous assets to D'Arcy and to our clients."

D'Arcy's German clients include Fiat, Ernst & Young, Burger King, Fanta, Mars and Procter & Gamble.

Lindhof's advertising career began in 1984 at Ogilvy & Mather Direct in Hamburg. In 1989, he joined Scholz & Friends. He is a board member of the Association of German Advertising Agencies, and a member of the Central Association of German Advertising, and the German Advertising Council.
