The new crowd control seems to be lining them up on the side of the road, as in a Mitsubishi spot from Deutsch, or, in the case of a recent Allstate spot, in the middle of it, to show the companies’ customer appreciation. In the Allstate ad from Leo Burnett in Chicago, men and women cross sunset-kissed fields to stand side by side in the middle of the road, as spokesman Dennis Haysbert explains that last year one million people switched their car insurance to Allstate—”enough to stretch from the Gulf of Mexico to the Grand Canyon.”
