Keith Sherman, account director on the $300 million Sprint PCS business at Publicis & Hal Riney, has left the shop to become president of Cornyn & Partners.

Sherman, 40, is the first president in Cornyn's six-year history. He said he took the post to work with creative director and chairman Chris Cornyn.

"The best work I've done has been when I've partnered with a great creative guy," Sherman said. "Partnering with Chris and this fiercely independent agency gives me the chance to [use] the entirety of my skills."

Sherman graduated from the University of Iowa and has worked in advertising for 18 years. He has also worked at The Richards Group and Tracy Locke for such clients as Borden Dairies, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Primeco PCS (now Verizon).

"The timing is right for us to extend our vision, and Keith is the right person," Cornyn said. "With Keith, we can continue to build our creative core and position ourselves to compete with bigger agencies that are reaching into our client pool."

Cornyn & Partners was founded in 1995 and specializes in the food, electronics and entertainment categories. The agency's clients include A.G. Ferrari Foods, Foxy Vegetables and Six Degrees Records.

The shop, which claims $16 million in billings, recently struck an agreement with independent agency Jumboshrimp to share space and occasionally collaborate on business.

Executives at Riney could not be reached, and it was unclear who will replace Sherman there.
