NEW YORK -- Cordiant Communications Group finance director Art D'Angelo will leave his post to take the vacant CFO job at McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, IPG confirmed Tuesday.

D'Angelo fills the post previously held by Sal LaGreca, who made an abrupt exit last month in the wake of accounting errors at the New York-based company. Its parent, Interpublic Group, recently disclosed an accounting imbalance of $181.3 million, the bulk of which stems from the European offices of McCann.

Also on Tuesday, CCG officials said that deputy finance director Andy Boland, who has been with the London-based holding company for five years, will replace D'Angelo and will join the board in January. D'Angelo will remain on the board until the end of the year.

"As deputy finance director, Andy has been groomed for this job for some time, and we are confident that the transition will be seamless given Andy's in-depth knowledge and experience of the Group," said CCG outgoing chairman Charlie Scott in a statement.

D'Angelo joined Bates USA in 1994 as evp and chief financial officer. Since then, he's ascended through the New York-based agency and its parent, CCG. He was appointed to CCG's board as finance director in December 1997 and stepped down from his post as CFO of Bates Worldwide in March 2001.
