BOSTON Connelly Partners said it is preparing to help launch retail chain Wine Pirates. The independent agency in Boston is working on various facets of the startup’s overall image and communications strategy, including Web site development and helping to fashion the interior design of each store.

Wine Pirates looks to carve out a niche as an especially consumer-friendly, midrange vendor specializing in 150 wines categorized according to taste (“Easy Drinking”) and social occasion (“Romantic Wines”).

Agency president Steve Connelly said the assignment is noteworthy because it allows the shop to try its hand at a broad range of services.
