With a new name and an added boost from $5 million in venture capital funding, NetKey is preparing to take the Web-based kiosk industry by storm.
The New Haven, Conn., company has selected Mascola Advertising as its first agency of record. NetKey, whose customers include Service Merchandise, Yahoo!, Microsoft and Fidelity Investments, previously handled chores in-house.
"Since we got funding in the spring, we're expanding the base that we're going out to in terms of customers," said NetKey chief operating officer Matthew Nemerson. "We've been very well known in the kiosk world, but our goal is to expand the company into many fields, and let people know that we're not just kiosks, but customer relationship management and e-commerce enablers of small businesses around the world."
With a budget of nearly $1 million over the next six months, the agency is charged with providing advertising, collateral, trade-show support and Web executions. Print advertising using the lines "Net kiosk intelligence" and "Infrastructure for kiosk solutions" will break in late August or early September in a variety of vertical magazines covering the retail, finance, and IT industries. General advertising will also run in publications such as Fortune and The New York Times.
