The aliens have landed, and boy, are they angry. That’s the premise behind Pedone & Partners’ new spot for Sweet ‘N Low.
In the 30-second ad, which breaks nationally today, two stiffly moving men (shown here) enter a rural diner. Their eyes bulge when a waitress serves them coffee sweetened with Equal; the cups then start to rattle in their saucers. The duo is next seen walking away from the smoldering restaurant. Says one (in subtitled alien-speak), “I never drink my coffee without Sweet ‘N Low.”
The spot follows the formula of previous “mini-movies” in the campaign, where “convicts, cowboys or aliens deal with the angst of not having Sweet ‘N Low in the way you’d expect for someone in that genre,” says creative director Tom Cook.
