Starbucks is planning to strengthen its branded presence within major supermarket chains and “Mom & Pop” grocery stores via new stand-alone coffee shops and an expanded grocery line.

The Seattle-based company, which currently has coffee shops inside Safeway and Albertson’s supermarkets, met with representatives from key supermarket chains at the FMI Show in Chicago this week to discuss having branded cafes in every U.S. state.

The company currently has stores in 41 states and Washington, D.C.
