ATLANTA The Coca-Cola Co. last week began a nationwide rollout of its newest soft drink, Sprite Remix.
A tropical version of the Sprite brand hit stores Wednesday, making its first stop at the Tropical Cafe in Tavernier, Fla. Officials from Coke's Atlanta headquarters, the Florida bottling company, Monroe County Commissioner Murray Nelson and local residents were on hand for the boat delivery.
Sprite Remix is a combination of the traditional lemon-lime soft drink with added tropical flavors, according to Chris Lowe, chief marketing officer for Coca-Cola North America. "In music, a remix takes the strengths of an original song and adds elements to create a new sound," Lowe said. "That same idea was applied to Sprite Remix."
Initially, the soft drink will be available only in 20-ounce bottles. Later this spring and summer, 12-ounce cans, multi-packs and one- and two-liter bottles will be available. Packaging graphics will feature a graphic treatment of the Sprite logo.
Sprite Remix will be supported by a marketing campaign including sampling, promotions, and television, print and radio advertising, according to the company.
