CHICAGO MARC USA shows how one person can influence another's eating habits in new TV spots that break today for drive-through chain Checkers/Rally's.
The commercials, part of the Tampa, Fla., company's "You gotta eat" campaign, show a group of young adults eating Checkers/Rally's food. After spotting the group, a posse of motorcyclists heads to the drive-through. They are followed by an older man, who is in turn followed by employees of a car wash.
The spots, from MARC's Pittsburgh office, also include an updated jingle that mixes hip-hop and rock themes. The chain is expected to expand its advertising into 40 markets, up from 16 when the campaign launched in August 2001.
"We are as excited about the 2004 launch as we were in year one," said Richard Turer, the chain's vp of marketing, in a statement. "With memorable music and compelling images, this year's campaign delivers great brand continuity while helping us break through the copycat clutter."
Spending was not disclosed. Checkers/Rally's spent more than $35 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
