After six years with the agency, Lisa Badeau last week was named partner at CC and D Communications here.
As vice president and director of marketing services, Badeau is responsible for developing ad strategies and managing the daily operations of account service for all agency business. "I have my hands on everything," said Badeau, who joined CC and D in 1992 from the defunct T.J. Clark, where she served as an account supervisor.
Badeau receives an undisclosed minority stake in the shop and her duties will now include long-term planning, according to president and majority owner Peter Kostopoulos.
CC and D's other partners are chairman and co-founder Harry Daly, creative director Judy Austin and public relations director Peter Prodromou, who was named a partner earlier this year. Kostopoulos described Badeau, Austin and Prodromou as "the next generation" of management at CC and D.
Although Kostopoulos has no plans to step down anytime soon, Daly is in the midst of a "long-term retirement buyout" and is expected to leave the shop within five years, Kostopoulos said.
Daly co-founded CC and D in 1982 with fellow Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos expatriots Stavros Cosmopulos and Bob Crowley. After a healthy run in the 1980s that saw the agency enter the region's midsized ranks, CC and D has see-sawed through the '90s, with overall billings hovering around $20 million and a staff of between 20 and 25.
Kostopoulos has tried to move the shop from a traditional media agency to an integrated marketing communications firm. With younger partners in place and the public relations unit in the midst of a growth spurt, the transition seems to be well under way.
CC and D is planning to focus more on new business, Kostopoulos said. Given its award-winning ads for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, the shop plans to mine the hospitality and tourism industries. "We've had success in that category," Badeau said.
CC and D's other clients include Colonial Gas Co. and the National Bank of Greece.
