BOSTON Cashman & Katz has named Dean Pagani vice president of public affairs, a new post at the independent agency.

Pagani, 44, will lead a six-person department, work with existing clients and concentrate on growing the Glastonbury, Conn.-based firm’s practice in the areas of issue advocacy, crisis avoidance, litigation support, reputation and change management.

Pagani has more than 20 years of experience as a communications strategist, including eight years as communications director (and later chief of staff) in the Connecticut governor’s office, as well as communications advisor to the Senate president pro tem and public relations management for the quasi-public Capital City Economic Development Authority.
