ATLANTA Cartoon Network is teaming with grocer Albertsons to encourage youths to eat fruits and vegetables.
A July 7-Aug. 3 "Wacky Days of Summer" promotion will involve the cable network's commercial-free Boomerang channel and food partners such as the California Avacado Commission, Del Monte, Monterey Mushrooms and the Watermelon Promotional Board.
The program includes in-store posters, pennants and grocery bag stuffers as well as appearances by Hanna-Barbera characters including Scooby-Doo, Fred Flintstone and Yogi Bear.
Also on tap are pre-school and pediatric outreach, plus Internet support.
Cartoon Network is a part of Atlanta-based Turner Broadcasting System.
