NEW YORK Ray Warren, managing director of Omnicom Group's OMD, has joined Carat USA as president, the Aegis Group media network said.
The arrival of Warren, a veteran media buyer and agency executive, ends Carat CEO David Verklin's four-month search for a successor to Charlie Rutman, who left in February to become head of the U.S. operation of Havas' Media Planning Group [Adweek, Feb. 11].
Rutman and Verklin built the network in the U.S. during a seven-year partnership in which Carat became a top 10 media network in the country with more than $5 billion in U.S. billings.
Besides running Carat USA as president, Warren was also named president of Carat Media Group Americas, which includes Canada and Latin American operations.
Before joining OMD in 2002, Warren was president and CEO of Raycom Sports. He also held top posts at ABC, BBDO, Ted Bates and Benton & Bowles.
