LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group’s Deutsch/LA today confirmed that it was forced to lay off less than 5 percent, about 10 people, of its staff as a residual effect of losing the Mitsubishi Motors North America account last December.

“Obviously, our clients affect the natural fluctuations on staff,” said Mike Sheldon, managing partner and general manager at the Marina del Rey, Calif., agency. “It was miraculous that it was that few. Luckily, we’ve experienced some organic growth during the same period.”
