The Campbell Legacy Is a New Hierarchy

WASHINGTON, D.C.-When Robert Campbell, the 49-year-old founder and chief executive officer of The Campbell Group in Baltimore, died suddenly two weeks ago, shocked agency officials put a new management structure in place that they said Campbell himself would have approved.
Brian Hall, president of the agency's new Florida office and an eight-year veteran of the company, has assumed the chief executive officer's role as well. Hall will continue to oversee the operation of the newly opened Fort Lauderdale, Fla., branch in addition to his new agency-wide responsibilities.
Michael Tinati has been appointed chief operating officer of The Campbell Group.
Tinati will be responsible for the day-to-day operations at the firm's Baltimore headquarters. Pat Tierney will continue to serve as president of the agency's New York-based public relations division, Tierney & Co.
Hall, Tinati and Tierney, along with co-creative directors Andy Dumaine and Cristina Creager, will form an executive committee at The Campbell Group.
"This happened sooner than expected," said Dumaine. "But these changes were in the works with Bob, who talked about and planned for the future. The future just came much sooner than we thought."
"Bob Campbell was a highly respected figure in the travel and tourism industry and in the Baltimore business community," said Hall. "The tradition of excellence will remain Bob Campbell's legacy and continue as the hallmark of The Campbell Group."
The Campbell Group has 42 employees and billed approximately $35 million in 1996.
Robert Campbell founded the agency in 1984 as a marketing consultation company devoted to strategic planning for clients in the travel and destination marketing industries.
