Cronin & Co. cold-called Garelick Farms in August with a pitch for a public relations program, the agency said. Although no PR was sold, the initiative proved successful nonetheless, getting the shop into the dairy marketer’s subsequent advertising review—won by Cronin last week, according to the agency.

“It’s a big win for us because Garelick is a wonderful name, and the category is so hotly contested,” said Bill Cronin, president of the Glastonbury, Conn., independent.

Matt Samson, marketing director at Garelick Farms, said Cronin was chosen for its “creative capabilities and strategic approach to our business issues and objectives.”

The other finalists were the incumbent, Connelly Partners in Boston, and Gearon Hoffman in Boston and Boathouse in Needham, Mass.,
