BOSTON James Brown pushes "any excuse" to buy a new car from Volkswagen of America's Southern California dealerships in his first assignment as associate creative director of Arnold's Los Angeles office.
Brown, 42, oversaw the Havas agency's print, radio and outdoor "Any excuse will do" campaign for the dealers group. The effort broke last week and retains VW's long-standing brand tag, "Drivers wanted."
Brown spent the past year working as a freelance copywriter for Boston-based Arnold before taking the acd post, a new position. He reports to Alan Pafenbach, agency managing partner and group cd, who had previously overseen creative for the L.A. outpost.
During the last six years, Brown has also freelanced for Los Angeles-area agencies Deutsch, Ogilvy & Mather and Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners.
