Bozell Worldwide president/ceo Charles D. Peebler, Jr. said last week that he and worldwide agency chairman David Bell were in the process of pulling together a list of internal and external candidates.
'I think in this market, it's important for this person to have Midwestern roots and experience,' Peebler said.
While the office is stable with $55 million in billings, it has suffered in new business pitches from a perception that it is an office with a New York perspective, one agency source said. Bozell/Minneapolis, as a satellite of a multinational, New York-based agency, is limited by geography to mainly local accounts. The office can pitch business in Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Idaho and a portion of Ohio.
Bozell/Minneapolis svp/management supervisors Terry Gruggen, Steve Centrillo and Joe Rabaglia may be among those considered for the position. However, agency sources said they believed the job would go to an outsider.
Speculation has included senior account management from several agencies in Minneapolis, but Peebler would not identify any names on his list. He said, however, he expects to name Benza's replacement within a month.
