Creative duo John Boone and David Oakley have left The Martin Agency to launch their own as-yet-unnamed shop.

“We’ve just always wanted to start our own agency,” said copywriter David Oakley, who with art director Boone has set up shop in Charlotte, N.C., where they led Martin’s satellite office.

The pair opens for business with Martin’s Charlotte Hornets account.

Oakley, 38, was a copywriter at TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York, where he worked on the Absolut campaign. His other ad credits include AT&T and Certs at Young & Rubicam, also in New York.

At TBWA\C\D in Los Angeles, Boone, 39, was art director on Nissan’s well-regarded “Toys” spot.
