So this is what you’d call negative brand association.

A truly bizarre news story emerged last week linking Bert, the nerdy, paranoid Muppet and erstwhile Ernie sidekick, to Osama bin Laden. The story centered on a protest in Bangla desh in which posters were raised showing bin Laden with an angry-looking Bert peering over his shoulder. It seems the protesters had trolled the Web for Osama shots and downloaded the one—evi dently created for a parody site—that included Bert.
