Publicis creatives wanted to be authentic in three Heineken ads that broke during the Grammys and showed musicians auditioning well for an indie band—until they insult Heineken in various ways. So they searched high and low to find the right kind of talent, which turned out not to be an easy task. “We needed to find actors who could play, and that’s a lot harder than just finding actors,” said creative director Ken Ratcliffe. “Actually, most people who we cast were musicians who acted.”
