NEW YORK BBDO said it has promoted Mark Goldstein to the new position of vice chairman, BBDO North America, effectively immediately.
Based in the New York office of Omnicom Group's BBDO since joining in March 2005, Goldstein will continue as chief marketing officer.
He reports to David Lubars, who is chairman and chief creative of BBDO North America. The two also worked together at Publicis Groupe's Fallon in Minneapolis. Last year, Goldstein joined BBDO from Interpublic Group's Partnership division, where he was CMO and was based at Lowe in New York.
In a statement, Lubars said, "When Mark joined us last year, he had but one single goal: to help leverage BBDO's creative and business skills to grow the agency beyond anyone's expectations. It goes without saying, he is fulfilling this charter."
Goldstein is credited with helping to land more than $1 billion in billings at BBDO over the last year, the key factor in his promotion, Lubars added.
Since his arrival, BBDO has landed eBay, Lowe's Home Centers and Bank of America, among other accounts.
Earlier in his career, Goldstein was a creative director and then president of Earle Palmer Brown and was based in Bethesda, Md.
