ATLANTA Tierney Communications said it has won the $20 million creative and media account of Bayer Environmental Science after successfully completing an assignment for the company.

The Interpublic Group shop in Philadelphia was invited to pitch the account after spending the past three years as the company's public relations shop. MDC Partners shop Colle+McVoy was the incumbent.

Tierney will develop a national broadcast, print and direct mail campaign for the company, which is a division of Germany-based Bayer Group. The Environmental Sciences division, based in Raleigh, N.C., produces more than 30 pest and turf management products that are marketed to contractors and consumers.

The shop will help the company introduce a new product in late February, with other work scheduled to break in March.

"After working with Tierney for nearly three years as our PR partner, we were not surprised by their strong strategic and creative expertise," said Mike Daly, marketing director for the turf and ornamental unit of Bayer Environmental Science.
