LOS ANGELES Grupo Gallegos has been tapped to handle Hispanic advertising for Energizer, the agency confirmed.

The Long Beach, Calif., shop won the business following a review. Contenders also included Zubi Advertising in Coral Gables, Fla., and Casanova Pendrill in Irvine, Calif., which handled the business in the mid-1990s, according to sources.

Billings could not be determined. Energizer has not used a Hispanic agency in recent years. The last time the company had Latino media expenditures was in 1998, when it spent $2 million, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
