DALLAS-Less than three months after parting ways with Macintosh clone maker Power Computing, Bam! has declined an invitation to rejoin the client's roster, according to a shop principal.
Bam! principal David Bernert said Power Computing in Round Rock, Texas, which denies reports that the agency is currently under consideration for its ad account, recently extended an offer to the shop to assume branding duties.
The creative boutique in Austin, Texas, parted with Power Computing in April, concerned that the client was moving to a heavily direct advertising approach.
"They were going to restructure [the marketing department] the way it was when we got the account" in 1996, said Bernert, with Bam! reporting to company officials Mike Rosenfelt and Doreen Lorenzo. Bernert said he and partner Mike Bevil decided against the move.
"Rosenfelt denied that BAM! was asked to resume its duties on the account. He said Power Computing has made no decisions regarding the branding portion of its business."
The entire account, including the direct portion with New York startup firm LLKF&B, is estimated at $12 million-plus.
