Jared, an animated, gibberish-speaking computer icon that has traveled over email for the past decade, has made two more ad appearances.
Young & Rubicam, New York, and Mendelsohn/Zien, Los Angeles, have both incorporated the yellow happy face in TV spots for clients Blockbuster Video and The Green Burrito restaurants, respectively.
In the Blockbuster spot, he sings his usual nonsense song. Subtitles on the bottom of the screen promote the video store chain’s new releases. “[Jared’s] smiley face fits perfectly with the ‘Go home happy’ tagline we created–and the whole campaign idea,” said a Y&R representative.
In the Green Burrito campaign (shown here), a green Jared has an entire repertoire of songs in English.
