CHICAGO Barkley Evergreen & Partners chairman Scott Aylward is relinquishing his post after 11 years with the shop, the agency said.

Aylward, 48, who has been chairman of BE&P for the past three years, said he had fulfilled his top objectives for the shop. "I wanted to build a leadership team that could carry out a shared vision of making Barkley Evergreen one of the most sought after agencies in the nation," he said in a statement. "Under Brian Brooker's leadership as CEO these past three years, this company is well on its way to achieving that vision."

Aylward joined the independent Kansas City, Mo., agency in 1994, leading the shop's Sonic Drive-Ins account. As the account grew, so did Aylward's position at the agency. He became chief executive of the shop in 1997, then chairman and CEO in 2002.

As a leader of the agency, Aylward helped push BE&P to become the largest fully employee-owned agency in the country. He also brought Brooker to the shop as president and chief creative officer in 2000 from GSD&M. When he relinquished the CEO title in 2002 to Brooker, Aylward began splitting his time between Kansas City and San Diego.
