BOSTON Tier One Partners said it has been tapped by AuctionDrop as its first lead public relations agency.

The Boston-based independent shop, which had done some past projects for the client, was selected following a review of undisclosed contenders. Tier One will handle media relations to help establish the client AuctionDrop as a national consumer brand.

San Carlos, Calif.-based AuctionDrop sells goods on Ebay for consumers who don't have time to do it themselves. The company gets a 40 percent commission for each sale.

The client, which recently inked a deal with UPS through which all UPS stores will serve as AuctionDrop locations, launched in March 2003. Currently, AuctionDrop has about 3,500 drop-off locations nationwide.

"Tier One's 'all senior, all the time' value proposition was a key selling point in our agency selection process," said client representative Andrea Roesch in a statement. The budget was not disclosed.
