American Trans Air is planning a fall branding campaign from Publicis in Mid America, the agency it hired about a year ago on a project basis following an extended review.

Since hiring Publicis in Chicago, the Indianapolis-based carrier’s advertising has been almost exclusively retail oriented as it promotes its low fares to business travelers.

The branding initiative, scheduled to break in the third or fourth quarter, has been under consideration for a year-and-a-half, said Rick Larsen, ATA’s vice president of marketing and sales.

The client was at least as deliberate during an 11-month review that ended in March 2001.
