A ClearStation “Kensey’ Ad Gets Unexpected Help From Microsoft
LOS ANGELES-Timing was key for Asylum in breaking its new campaign for ClearStation, an investment advisory Web site and community.
In one print ad, the campaign’s central character, “Kensey,” says, regarding Microsoft stock, “So, let me get this straight: the market cranked down because an executive at Microsoft made bearish comments about his company’s stock?? Can we have a better reason please?” The coup was that the ad happened to break the same day a Federal judge presented his initial findings in the government’s antitrust cast against the software corporation.
The serendipity helped boost site traffic, and the character himself has become a cult figure of sorts, according to Asylum copywriter and creative director Tim Breitbach.
