Three of his sculptures of human figures, two bronze and one plaster, are currently on exhibit at The One Club in New York through Sept. 24, along with the works of 16 other ad executives, such as the late DDB New York art director Helmut Krone and David Kennedy, co-founder
of Wieden & Kennedy in Portland, Ore.
"I was amazed at the people who were on [the list of exhibitors]," Swartz said. "It's quite an honor."
Swartz created the pieces last year in a studio at his Florida home. He left Crispin Porter & Bogusky in Miami five months ago for Mintz & Hoke, Avon, Conn. He hasn't built a studio in his new home yet. "I'll find a place to do it. Art is always something I've done."
Swartz said he decided long ago to work in graphic design rather than the creative arts and has learned in his 15 years in the ad industry to strike a balance between art and business in his designs.
Despite his new exposure, sculpting will remain just a hobby. "It's not a career," he said. "It's a passion."
