Argus Communications has been selected by the Boston Public Health Commission for a multilingual public-service campaign targeting elderly prescription drug users.

The Boston shop won the assignment following a re-view that included cross-town agencies Kelley Habib John, Trinity Communications and Kelly Chunn As-sociates; CPC Communications, Needham, Mass.; and Causemedia, Newton, Mass.

Spending will be in the six-figure range for a highly targeted local campaign to launch early next year. Argus will create a multimedia effort designed to reach metro Boston’s Latino, Haitian, Chinese, Cape Verdean, Vietnamese and Russian populations.

Argus based its pitch on a study of both consumers and providers in the target communities that found communication breakdowns among patients, doctors and pharmacists and a lack of literature for non-English audiences.

Television, radio, print and outdoor ads will focus on educating elderly consumers on the safe and appropriate use of prescription medications, including how to deal with missed dosages and side effects, without...
