LOS ANGELES America Online on Tuesday said it has hired Interpublic Group’s Casanova Pendrill to handle the Hispanic portion of its advertising account.

The 60-person Irvine, Calif.-based agency won the creative and media account following a review of undisclosed agencies. Billings could not be determined.

Casanova Pendrill is charged with enhancing AOL’s brand image among Hispanics and touting the Dulles, Va.-based client’s new features and services targeted at the Hispanic community.

AOL spent nearly $200 million on general market ads in 2001, and nearly $130 million through October of 2002, per CMR.
