Crispin and BVK/Meka Call a Truce in Battle for Florida Account
ATLANTA–The Florida Department of Health’s anti-smoking review took its strangest turn yet last week, when incumbent Crispin Porter & Bogusky announced it will partner with BVK/Meka to defend the account.
BVK/Meka is the Hispanic agency that initially questioned the state’s decision to reassign the $30 million account to CP&B last February, causing the review process to be restarted.
Also in February, BVK/Meka creative director Ileana Aleman-Richenbach wrote a scathing letter to Adweek, calling CP&B “Disgrace of the Year” and accusing its creative director, Alex Bogusky, of bigotry and intolerance.
But the two Miami agencies played down both events last week, saying their new alliance was what was best for the state, best for both shops, and best for the battle against teen smoking.
