BOSTON The American Legacy Foundation has named five semifinalists in the review for the national anti-smoking group’s public relations account.

Advancing to the capabilities round today were Omnicom’s Fleishman-Hillard and Havas’ Magnet Communications, both in New York; Interpublic Group shops MWW Group, E. Rutherford, N.J., and Golin/Harris, Washington; and incumbent Porter Novelli, Washington, a unit of Omnicom.

Annual public relations spending by Legacy is approximately $2-4 million. Finalists will be named early next month.

Creative chores on Legacy’s $50-60 million ad account are also in review with the incumbent team of Havas’ Arnold, Boston, and Maxxcom’s Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Miami, defending against IPG’s Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich.;
