American Greetings Adds Carlton to Doner

DETROIT Doner has picked up additional business from American Greetings, landing lead agency duties for the Carlton Cards retail locations.

The independent shop's duties on the account will include strategic planning, media and creative for the division, which includes about 600 specialty card and gift stores in the United States and Canada. The shop is already lead agency for Carlton parent American Greetings.

"We're excited to expand our relationship with American Greetings and to begin creating integrated marketing programs that showcase such a dynamic and creative retail organization," said David DeMuth, Doner's chief brand development and integration officer, in a statement.

The shop will handle the account out of its Detroit and Cleveland offices. Billings on the account were not disclosed, and the company had no recorded spending in 2003 or 2004, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.The account was previously in-house, according to a Doner representative.
