Allina Health Systems is considering six agencies for its advertising account, previously at Martin/Williams.
Competing for the account are Minneapolis shops Periscope, Kerker, Kruskopf Olson, Greer & Associates, Bolin Marketing & Advertising and Group One Communications. Jan Apple, the Minnetonka, Minn., consultant, is handling the review.
Executives from the Minneapolis-based hospital and health clinic network will visit the agencies this week before making a cut to three, Apple said. The three finalists will be given a strategic assignment, and a decision is expected by the end of March, she said.
Martin/Williams had handled the business since 1985. The client and the agency parted ways late last year as activity on the account began to drop off, according to an agency executive. Spending was estimated in the $1 million range.
M/W's recent work for Allina took a humorous ap-proach, positing that funny images improve one's state of mind. One TV spot depicted a chimpanzee dancing, with the theme, "When you feel better, you heal better."
Allina Health System was created in 1994 after a merger of Medica Health Plan and HealthSpan Health Systems.
