ATLANTA Alabama Power has brought the creative portion of its ad account home, the utility confirmed.

After three years working with out-of-state agencies, the Southern Company subsidiary has hired Birmingham shop Lawler Ballard Van Durand to handle creative chores.

Bobbie Knight, vice president of public relations who joined the utility a year ago, said she had been studying local agencies with the intention of bringing the creative portion back to the state. Knight said she wanted an in-state agency that understands the issues of a regulated utility.
