ATLANTA Austin Kelley Advertising launched a new broadcast and print campaign for AmSouth this week, the shop said.
The campaign promotes the Birmingham, Ala.-based bank's cash-back program for its check cards. The ads will run for the next three months in the six Southeastern states where the bank operates.
A 30-second television spot is airing in Birmingham, Ala., Nashville, Tenn., and Tampa and Orlando, Fla., which are the bank's largest markets. Two 60-second radio ads and a series of newspapers ad will run in all six states, which also includes Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana.
The TV ad shows a golf green with a water trap beside it. As golf balls splash into the water, a narrator says, "Use your check card to buy golf balls and your cash back for more golf balls." One of the radio ads suggests using the check card to buy a new cookbook and the cash back for takeout food. Print ads follow the same theme.
Campaign spending was not disclosed, but AmSouth has spent $6 million on advertising through May of this year, according to TNS Media Intelligence. The bank spent $14 million on advertising last year.
AKA, an Interpublic Group shop in Atlanta, is in the process of merging with its sister shop in Atlanta, Fitzgerald + Co.
