DALLAS Wingstop Restaurants has named former Dallas Cowboy quarterback and current TV football commentator Troy Aikman as its national spokesman, the client said.
The Garland, Texas-based client said the three-year partnership will feature Aikman in TV, print, radio and outdoor ads, as well as special events appearances. The company handles most of its creative in-house.
Wingstop CEO Jim Flynn said in a statement that Aikman was a natural fit for the company as it expands nationally. "Troy makes the perfect brand partner in that he is a hometown hero with national, even global appeal," Flynn said.
Wingstop operates 133 restaurants in 22 states and has plans to open 130 additional locations.
In July, the company hired Firehouse in Dallas to handle media and possibly future creative on the $750,000 account of its Dallas and Fort Worth co-op. Firehouse pitched the account with local shop Asher Media, which now buys the client's media.
