NEW YORK Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, a HMO that serves 210,000 members in western New York and Vermont, has awarded the creative and production portion of its advertising account to Fairbrother and Co. in Chatham after a review. The agency will be responsible for an integrated marketing communications program that will include regional newspaper, outdoor, radio, television, direct mail and collateral advertising materials. The client will continue to handle media placement. Bozell Sawyer Miller Group, New York, was named public relations agency of record by the Photography Information Council. PIC is an industry educational outreach unit operated jointly by the Photographic Manufacturers and Distributors Association and the Photo Marketing Association. Apple & Eve, a fruit juice and beverage company located in Roslyn, has selected Rabasca & Co. in Melville as its advertising agency for special projects. The shop will create package design and advertising and handle media planning and placement for the client's new product introductions. Ed Yeaker Associates has added Internet marketing and Web site development to its full range of advertising and promotional capabilities. The agency, with offices in Scarsdale and Mt. Kisco, will provide the new services in association with an affiliate, As Was of Elmont. Genovese Drug Stores has chosen Lowell/Harrison/Leifer in Rockville Centre to develop its 39-week "Heritage" print advertising campaign that will appear in Newsday's special series, "Long Island: Our Story." Interep, a New York-based company that specializes in radio advertising, was named the national sales agent for Cellular Linking. The Chicago-based client's Abbreviated Airtime-Free Cellular Dialing service enables wireless phone users to respond to radio commercials they hear in their cars. Interep, which has offices in 20 cities, reports annual billings of more than $820 million. The Yellowstone Group of Irvington was one of the top creative winners at the Advertising Club of Westchester's 26th annual tri-state competition, receiving 17 Big W awards of excellence. TMM and E&M Advertising have formed E&M Media Group in New York. The newly formed entity will specialize in creative projects, production, per-inquiry media, station and cable barter, and international direct marketing in Canada, England and Europe. Bonnie Schalle was appointed president of E&M Media Group. Griffin Bacal in New York has developed a television campaign, beginning with a 30-second commercial titled "Kids Bill of Rights," to kick off the new business relaunch of Discovery Zone. The tagline is: "I gotta be at DZ." CONNECTICUT Advent Software, a supplier of investment management programs headquartered in San Francisco, has tapped Austin Lawrence Group in Stamford as its public relations agency of record. NEW JERSEY Fernwood Resort in Marshalls Creek, Pa., has selected Oxford Communications in Lambertville to develop a public relations campaign. PENNSYLVANIA Philadelphia-based Ted Thomas Associates and its two subsidiaries, CoMed Communications and Smudin Studios, have been purchased by five longtime employees of the agency. Yvonne D'Amelio, Donald Phillips, Brian Russell, Michael Scott and Beverly Wernette are forming a holding company, Vox Medica Corp., which will own TTA and its subsidiaries. Robert Ritchie, former president and chief executive officer of TTA, assumes the same titles with VMC.
