Griffin Promotions, a subsidiary of Laughlin/Constable, Milwaukee, was chosen sales promotion agency of record by the American Fishing Association. Griffen will handle corporate sponsorships and licensee relationships for association events, activities and membership communications.
Cramer-Krasselt/Milwaukee, will handle pr and promotions for seven Olive Garden Italian Restaurants in Wisconsin and Rockford, Ill.
First Madco and Valley Restaurants selected Knupp & Watson, a Madison-based firm, to handle its 23 Wisconsin Rocky Rococo pizza restaurants.
The National Institute on Park & Grounds Management named Weidert Group, Appleton, as its agency of record. Its primary tasks will be image development and membership recruitment.
Hagen Marketing and Communications was named agency of record for Amity Leather Products Co., Stratford Homes, the Insurance Connection, the Wisconsin Optometric Association, and Madison Junior College of Business.
Metalcraft, which specializes in property control and inventory management products, chose Ovation Marketing, La Crosse, to produce its new direct mail catalog.
OHIO
Apple Computer selected Hensley Segal, Cincinnati, to handle regional advertising and marketing communications to business markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.
Bearings Inc., a distributor of specialty maintenance, repair and operations products and services, hired Liggett-Stashower, Cleveland, as its agency of record. The account had been in-house.
MISSOURI
Adamson Advertising, St. Louis, was designated agency of record for Florists’ Mutual Insurance Co., based in Edwardsville, Ill.
Gilbert, Christopher & Associates, Kansas City, was selected by Advantage Health Systems, Humana Health Care Plus, and Impact Hearing Conservation to develop pr programs.
Woodruff & Co., Columbia, added the 1993 Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant and Hunter’s Worldwide Systems to its roster list.
Muller & Co., Kansas City, was selected as agency of record for Koch Supplies, the Kansas City-based supplier of processing equipment, packaging systems and butcher supplies to the meat industry.
MINNESOTA
Mona Meyer McGrath & Gavin, Minneapolis, added Minitel Development Corp. to its client roster. The agency will handle media relations, community relations and strategic positioning for the introduction of the Bill & Pay service.
Jostens College Ring division selected Peterson Pearson Milla, Minneapolis, as its agency of record after a four-agency review. Other agencies in the pitch were Case Foley Sackett, Cole-McVoy, and Gage Marketing.
S.J. Thoms & Associates, Minneapolis, was retained by Watkins Inc., Winona, to provide counsel and media relations for the company’s 125th anniversary celebration. The agency was also hired by Lloyd’s Food Products, St. Paul, to conduct product testing and develop new cooking instructions for the company’s meat products.
Carevan Medical System selected Alpine Marketing Communications, Edina, to introduce a cost containment program targeted for the hospital market on a national basis.
Chuck Ruhr Advertising, Minneapolis, was selected for the $1-million Uncle’s B’s Bagels account.
MICHIGAN
Marx Layne & Co., Farmington Hills, was named public relations agency for both the Wooden Horse Inn and Nicky’s restaurants in Troy.
Troy-based Picano’s selected Lerner Advertising, Huntington Woods, as its advertising agency. The advertising agency’s first creative assignment was a radio campaign for Picano’s eighth anniversary price rollback.
Three-Dimensional Services, a Rochester Hills-based contract design, manufacturing and prototype company, hired Kracoe Szykula & Townsend, Berkley, as its marketing communications agency of record.
Total Plastics selected Stap & Co., Kalamazoo, as its agency to handle promotions, advertising and literature development projects.
ILLINOIS
Golin/Harris Communications, Chicago, was named public relations counsel for the American Amusement Machine Association, the organization representing manufacturers and distributors in the coin-operated amusement industry.
Heidenhain Corp., a manufacturer and marketer of precision measurement and control equipment and systems, assigned its business to Hinsdale-based Robert Brandt & Associates.
Victor Books, Wheaton, hired Marin/Lovell, Chicago, to produce a new 64-page catalog to be used as the marketing base for its spring/summer offering of books to the trade.
Northbrook Court Shopping Center chose Saffer Cravit Advertising, Chicago, as its new advertising agency. The agency will be responsible for a new image campaign and assist in a variety of other marketing and promotion areas.
Advanced Systems Concepts, a Schaumburg-based producer and marketer of computer software for IBM AS/400 machines, recently named Hammerman & Morse, Chicago, as its new advertising agency.
