Northern CaliforniaComputer giant Sun Microsystems has chosen San Francisco ad agency Ad-Lib Creative to create marketing strategies. The assignment comes in the wake of Sun's alliance with PeopleSoft. msr.comm, San Francisco, was retained by FaceTime Communications to support the company's repositioning plan. The client plans to establish Global 2000 call centers with instant messaging technology. Vivus, a developer of treatment products for sexual dysfunction in men and women, named public relations firm GCI Group in San Francisco as its agency of record. OregonPortland brand/response agency Rosen/ Brown Direct has begun a fundraising campaign for Committed Partners for Youth, a nonprofit organization that reaches out to at-risk Portland teenagers. KnollGroup, Portland, was tapped by the Regional Coalition for Clean Rivers and Streams. The agency is charged with creating a public awareness campaign for the client addressing stormwater pollution and its effects. Portland ad agency Nonbox (formerly Karakas Parmey & Associates) has added three clients: software provider Consystant, IT management firm Prosight and social and mental services provider The Morrison Center.Portland-based Nerve has unveiled a new look for Thomason Auto Group. The campaign includes four TV spots and a logo to complement a new tagline: "Cars for everyone." Coates Kokes of Portland, formerly The Coates Agency, was chosen by the law firm of Garvey, Schubert, & Barer to assist with brand development and market communications. The firm has offices in Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Wellmed, a leading online consumer health management products and services provider, selected Red Monkey Advertising of Portland to execute a campaign promoting its tailored online health-improvement programs.Southern CaliforniaOgilvy Public Relations in Los Angeles has added two new clients to its roster: Platinum Equity, a private equity firm specializing in acquiring and operating global infrastructure-technology companies; and Transilica, a wireless silicon designer. Morris Advertising, Newport Beach, added nonprofit organization Mercy House as a client. Morris will handle all marketing and advertising on a pro-bono basis for the organization, which helps the homeless. An upcoming campaign is built around the tagline: "We help people find their way back home." The Roxburgh Agency, Costa Mesa, was retained by mobile marketing firm National Tour. Roxburgh will unveil a new logo for National Tour as part of a brand-building campaign designed to reposition the company nationally.Foley/Freisleben LLC, an investor relations firm in Los Angeles, took top honors for the second consecutive year in a national competition hosted by the Cooperative Communicators Association. The award is for an annual report the firm created for Calavo Growers of California. Santa Monica-based Vision Art has been sold to international information technology and Web design company Compudyne Winfosystems. The visual-effects company has been renamed digital.art.media and will remain in its current location. Irvine-based advertising firm Szenderski/Rohani Worldwide has volunteered its services for Casa Teresa. The firm will provide public relations and communications services to the nonprofit, which provides services such as low-cost living and job training to expectant single mothers. Santa Ana-based Strahan Advertising was named agency of record for Everett, Wash.-based Lang Manufacturing Co. Strahan will develop new advertising campaigns for Lang's gas- and electric-powered commercial foodservice equipment.Eisbrenner Public Relations in Orange was selected by global information solutions company Experian to enhance the company's brand recognition in various automotive markets. Medical advertising agency Pacific Communications was tapped by Allergan and MRI International. For Allergan, the shop will focus primarily on the global branding of Gatifloxacin, a new anti-infective. Pacific will work to brand MRI, a medical facility services provider, as a firm addressing "global challenges ... inherent to healthcare systems."Urge, Los Angeles, was retained by IDG World Expo, a global producer of IT trade shows, conferences and events. In addition to overseeing media efforts at the Macworld and Linuxworld conferences, Urge will assist corporate communications and media relations for the company. Burbank-based graphics and displays company Photobition USA has completed an expansion of its main facility, which now has 65,0000 square feet of space and houses 180 employees. The new complex has allowed the company to house its production, display, executive and sales offices within a single space. Six Foot Two Productions in Marin County has announced representation agreements with three directors: Dan Povenmire, Kelly Day and Tom McKeon. The company develops long form, short form and spot work for TV and the Web, and feels the additions to its directing roster "add both creative focus and technical expertise to the consortium."WashingtonBrandhammer, Kirkland, was selected by ARB, Australia's largest manufacturer of four-wheel-drive aftermarket accessories, to develop ads and collateral for ARB's Air Locker differential locking systems. The agency will work with ARB's North and South American distributor, Air Locker, Inc. Seattle-based Tamara Wilson Public Relations added three clients to its roster. Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill, Il Fornaio (a restaurant featuring the cuisine of Tuscany) and venue management firm Columbia Hospitality have all selected TWPR to represent them regionally. Rolling Thunder Media of Bothell was retained by the Danish Tourist Board to develop a digital storytelling Web exchange for the travel industry.
