Roper Starch signed an agreement to hire 11 employees from Savitz Research Center, a Dallas market research firm. Roper and Savitz will continue as separately owned and operated companies. Laurie Shane, vice president of communications for Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, will be the speaker at the Oct. 14 meeting of the Houston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Forsythe & Butler, Houston, was designated agency of record for Advantage BMW Downtown, also in Houston. The agency already has begun providing newspaper advertising for the car dealership and is finalizing fourth-quarter marketing plans. A multimedia campaign is also in development and is scheduled to break in January. Dallas high-tech marketer M/C/C is expanding its current office space by nearly 5,500 square feet to accommodate its recent growth. In Houston, BD Langham Public Relations changed its name to BDL Public Relations and spun off a business consulting and management company as Renaissance Resource Management. NEW MEXICO The (Albuquerque) New Mexico chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has created a $10,000 endowment at the University of New Mexico in memory of veteran public relations professional Richard Elliott. Elliott was a founding member of the New Mexico PRSA chapter and its first president. The fund will provide scholarship support to undergraduate students. A series of self-promotion print ads created by Vaughn Wedeen Creative, Albuquerque, earned the shop inclusion in How's 1998 Self-Promotion Annual. The ads ran in local theater publications. OKLAHOMA Hutchinson, Kan.-based school bus manufacturer Collins Industries expanded its project relationship with Fireant Advertising & Marketing to an agency of record agreement. The Tulsa shop will develop ad campaigns for each of the client's four subsidiaries.
